The 50 Day Prayer Watch will begin at 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5 and end on Pentecost, May 24th.

Many leaders and pastors in Loudoun County sense that there is a clarion call going out among intercessors and the church to get on our knees and pray as the body of Christ in Loudoun.  The Lord has put a burden on our hearts to rally as many churches as God would stir in a unified effort to take one or two days each (24 hrs.) to cover 50 days of prayer for our county and nation at this critical time in which we are living.  (Smaller churches could share a day with another smaller church.)

We are calling this 50 Day Prayer Watch “If my people…” taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14.  During this season of prayer, our hope and prayer is that as we humble ourselves, repent of our sins, and seek God’s face, we will experience awakening and the fire of first love for Jesus re-ignited in our hearts.

Our families, marriages, children, churches, community and, more broadly, our nation are under attack.  We sense that God is calling the body of Christ in Loudoun to stand together united in prayer.

God’s answer has always been prayer.

Luke 18:7  “And will not God give justice to His elect, who cry out to Him day and night?  Will He delay long over them? I tell you He will give justice to them speedily.”

Matt. 16:18  “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We are destroying arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

This 50 Day Prayer Watch will begin at 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5 and end on Pentecost, May 24th. The 50 days will also encompass the 12-hour Prayer and Worship Burn on Passover Saturday, the National Day of Prayer (May 7) as well as the Bible Reading Marathon (May 3-7) in Leesburg as well as the celebration of our Lord’s ascension (May 14).

Would you help us by signing up your church, and getting the word out and encourage other pastors to participate?  We will start at 6pm on Easter Sunday and churches can sign up for 12 or 24 hour slots or more running from midnight to midnight (other than the 6 pm – midnight Easter shift). We will leave it up to each of the church’s leaders to decide how they want to do things for their own church. You could have sign-ups for people to take one hour slots. Some churches might open the church building for prayer while others might have people pray at home or work. Churches could hold lunchtime or evening prayer meetings for the congregation to attend and pray together. Some may feel led to combine fasting with prayer as the Lord leads. However works best for your congregation is fine. We can help provide prayer guides and resources for those who need them.  We will have a time of joint worship and prayer and celebration on Sunday evening, May 24th and will send out details about that later.

A Google calendar showing which church is praying when will be available as we get going.  Please contact us and let us know which day or days you would like to sign your church up for?  You can email or call Bo Cook at [email protected] or 703-303-4357 with any questions or with the date you’d like to commit your church to pray.
