America’s Black Robe Regiment (ABRR) was founded by Rev. Bill Cook in September 2012, as association of Christian clergy committed to securing “the Blessings of Liberty” to themselves and their Posterity. ABRR pastors seek to emulate the bold and courageous ministers who occupied the “Pulpit of the [American] Revolution,” Historian John Wingate Thornton aptly described them as “Timothies in their houses, Chrysostoms in their pulpits and Augustines in their disputations,”

The term, “Black Robe Regiment,” was a derisive British reference to the black Cambridge robes worn by the American clergy, and scornful recognition their seminal role in the “Rebellion.” Their preaching and teaching during the fifteen-year period preceding the commencement of hostilities, gave ideological and inspirational impetus to the Revolution, and elucidated the political ideology enshrined in the Charters of Freedom.
