About  the Nativity and Christmas

In 1223 St. Francis  of Assisi lamented that  Christmas had become materialistic !  Imagine that 800 years ago.  (And Americans thought we invented materialism)  He created a representation of what the birth of Christ was like, to help people understand that solemn event:  God the son, came to earth as a new born baby.

The origin of our modern day Christmas comes from the Christ Mass -- the church service celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.   It's very common to celebrate "Christmas" without even knowing about the miraculous events surrounding the Birth and why we celebrate it 2000 years later.    Learn more about the Christmas Story.

Christmas is a the perfect time of year to find or reconnect with the Christian faith.

Loudoun Awakening lists churches in Loudoun County which adhere to the basic tenets of the historic Christian faith  If your church is not listed and think it should be, please contact [email protected]
